Woodside

The Woodside Church in Park Lane is hosting August's Prayer Service on Monday the 21st at 3:00pm to 4:00pm.   You are welcome to support this year's service of prayer as the candle, passed to Telford Severn Gorge Deanery from Bishop Richard, moves around our local churches.

Woodside Church

Woodside Church doesn’t have its own purpose built church building and so church members meet for worship in Woodside Park Lane Community Centre - at present on Wednesday mornings and on Sundays at St.Michael's Church, Madeley.

The church on Woodside is relatively small in number and is looking to attract people in the community to join the fellowship and so draw us all closer to God and to our neighbours.

Many in Woodside belong to a culture which is media centred and this is reflected in the approach taken by Woodside Church. In Woodside there are a high proportion of families with challenges of one sort or another and many people with disabilities.

Church members are encouraged to discover and develop their gifts and use them in the life of the church where appropriate.

The creativity group meets regularly in the parish to help people to explore their God given gifts, and wonderful works of healing have taken place in and through this group.

Woodside estate was built as part of Telford New Town in the sixties. The estate took folk from the West Midlands 'overflow': so Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Dudley and the Black Country became the seedbed for Telford. People left the West Midlands looking for a better life in Telford and for many it was.

The Borough of Telford and Wrekin have begun an exciting new regeneration project. This includes the remodelling of the estate to overcome problems associated with the original design, by creating through roads to help eliminate crime black spots and unsafe areas. The new multi-use Park Lane Community Centre offers wonderful facilities and accommodate a Dental Practice and Pharmacy, the Childrens Centre (Sure Start), a Youth Project, a cafe, a computer suite and workshops with courses run by Telford College of Art and Technolgy (TCAT). The project will also eventually include a shopping centre and new housing.

Woodside Church extends a warm welcome to visitors of all ages - do please come and join us.
